During his monthly media briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, Wike emphasised the importance of political actions being governed by the necessity of preserving peace and stability throughout the nation.

He argued that political actors must make decisions that are in the broader public interest, rather than pursuing personal objectives.

The FCT minister expressed scepticism regarding the feasibility of a robust and cohesive opposition coalition that could challenge the ruling party in the 2027 general elections during the session.

He described the coalition discussions as impractical and unlikely to yield significant outcomes.

Wike also expressed his dissatisfaction with Atiku Abubakar, a former Vice President and senior member of the African Democratic Congress, alleging that his recent political activities were motivated by personal ambitions rather than a sincere dedication to collective political advancement.

Wike alluded to a recurring pattern of shifting between political parties without resolving internal conflicts in relation to Peter Obi’s political trajectory.

He contended that these actions are indicative of a deficiency in the essential leadership qualities that are necessary to effectively manage and stabilise party structures.

The minister also underscored the significance of loyalty and perseverance in the political arena, drawing on his personal experiences as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.

He observed that, despite internal conflicts, he elected to remain in the party and confront its obstacles rather than departing.

Wike also emphasised that his party’s achievement in securing significant positions in Rivers State was not impeded by his decision to support President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election.

“Permit me to disclose my dissatisfaction with this nation. Obi was a member of the APGA. He was unable to construct APGA, which resulted in a crisis. What constitutes effective leadership?” He stated, “Leadership is the ability to confront challenges and determine how you resolve them.”
