Momodu made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Morning Brief, where he addressed ongoing conversations surrounding possible alliances among opposition figures.

The discussions have continued to generate attention, particularly regarding the idea of joint tickets and whether some political figures would step aside for others in order to strengthen opposition chances against the ruling party in 2027.

Reports indicate that Peter Obi recently exited the African Democratic Congress alongside former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

The exit was linked to unresolved legal disagreements within the party structure and concerns described as an increasingly difficult internal political environment.

The development added another layer to the ongoing realignment within Nigeria’s opposition political space.

In addressing the situation, Momodu maintained that both Obi and Kwankwaso should be given the opportunity to independently measure their political influence without any form of restriction or pressure.

He emphasized that political ambition should not be curtailed by arrangements that prevent individuals from freely testing their acceptability among voters during elections.

He further addressed the broader conversations around potential coalitions and shared political platforms, noting that such arrangements should not lead to the exclusion of any major aspirant from participating in the electoral process.

According to him, political strength is ultimately determined by the electorate, and every contender should be allowed to demonstrate their support base at the polls without interference or imposed conditions.

Momodu also referenced the competitive nature of political ambitions within the opposition space, highlighting that attempts to prioritize one aspirant over another could undermine internal democratic principles.

He reiterated that the 2027 presidential race should remain open, allowing all interested figures to present themselves to voters and seek electoral validation through the ballot process.

“It’s good that he will go and test his popularity elsewhere like others also, but you can’t force Atiku out for a man because the man says if me and Kwankwaso come together by 12 o’clock, elections will be over,” he said.
