“It’s too soon for direct talks, the president said. “There are reports of a deal, but they must accept the terms or face intensified military action.

The remarks come amid quiet back-channel communications between U.S. and Iranian officials, reportedly brokered by regional allies. Tehran has sought relief from crippling economic sanctions, while Washington demands verifiable limits on Iran’s nuclear program and an end to proxy warfare across the Middle East.

Trump’s warning marks a sharp shift from earlier overtures suggesting a possible breakthrough. The president has long favored maximum pressure over diplomatic engagement, withdrawing from the 2015 nuclear deal during his first term.

Iranian officials have not directly responded to Trump’s latest comments. However, state media dismissed the idea of unilateral surrender, insisting any deal must respect Iran’s sovereignty.

White House aides said no summit is planned, though lower-level talks could continue. “The president is clear, Iran can choose a peaceful path, but the window is not open indefinitely, a senior official added.

Any direct U.S.-Iran presidential meeting would be historic, but Trump’s conditions suggest significant hurdles remain.
